Encouraging or telling others to violate the principle of equal treatment is also a form of discrimination. It is, therefore, unlawful to urge behaviour that discriminates against others.
Provoking unfair treatment of others is a particularly important problem in a hierarchical environment such as academic or military structures. Here, refusal to comply with a specific request or order may entail negative consequences for the subordinate. Still, one should never submit unreflectively to requests and orders which may result in discrimination. Quite the contrary, we even have a legal obligation to oppose behaviour that incites breaching the prohibition of discrimination or is aimed indirectly at violating the principle of equal treatment.
Example: The lecturer assigns a compulsory essay on the topic of how immigrants from North Africa will contribute to the increase of criminal behaviour in the European Union.
