Equal WUST

Our purpose

Two students standing in front of a mural depicting people of diverse backgrounds. The Statute of WUST, as an important element of the University’s mission, indicates the pursuit of scientific and educational activities “supported by the creation of moral standards based on tolerance, equality, openness, and intellectual freedom, which are essential for the development of the modern world.

The values cited in the quotation, among which equality plays a leading role, define the framework for public coexistence in all modern democratic societies. Equality and the principles that arise from it are not something that can be taken for granted. They must be constantly protected and cultivated to ensure they are universally respected. Combating discrimination is therefore an important aspect of the work of any public institution.

This is particularly important in the case of universities, whose fundamental function – alongside the expansion of academic freedom and the pursuit of knowledge itself – is the promotion of equality-driven attitudes.

For WUST, which for many years has strived to be one of the leading universities in Poland, this commitment should be no less important. Especially as the University seeks to welcome an increasing number of students coming from different countries, backgrounds, and cultures.
